"In 2003, when he won the American League home run title and the AL Most Valuable Player award as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources have independently told Sports Illustrated."
As much as I dislike the Yankees, I was truly rooting for A-Rod to surpass Barry Bonds as the all-time home run king. Even if this story is not true, A-Rod's legacy will be tainted.
It makes me angry that it is so easy to defame someone, everyone already assumes guilt. But it makes me angrier that you don't know who to root for anymore. If he did cheat, he cheated all of us out of a little bit more hope that MLB will forget the steroid era. If it's not true, it's completely unfair to A-Rod and his fans that he will undoubtedly become vilified for this. A truly unfortunate story all around.
