It was bad enough to see the NL lose their twelfth straight All-Star
Game last night by the score of 4-3, but to do it in fifteen innings
and almost five hours is just absurd. Having the Orioles closer, George
Sherrill, pitch two-and-a-third innings is not right. Clint Hurdle
having to consider David Wright as a pitcher, although partly in jest, is simply ridiculous.
The All-Star game winner gets home field advantage in the World
Series, a financial strategy by Bud Selig to make players try harder,
and make fans watch longer. Well this fan turned the game off after
nine innings, stressed out by Billy Wagner
blowing the lead. The game should be an exhibition because this game
should be fun, and a bit of a break, even for those selected to play.
But I needed a break as well from the rigors of watching baseball every
day. Perhaps I’m being selfish, but thank you Selig, for stressing me
out with a game that I should have been enjoying.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I wish I could say Wagner's performance (or perhaps more appropriately, result) was a surprise but I'd be lying. It was expected. Often people react to such things by uttering "unbelievable." I just turned to my brother and said "believable" when the tying run crossed the plate. This is the Billy Wagner I've come to know, and outside of perhaps Yankee Stadium, Angel Stadium and Fenway Park, this is what all fans get from their favorite team's closer far too often. That being said, Wagner will have to fail in a few more important appearances to reach Trevor Hoffman level, but he's got time and if the Mets continue to play well coming out of the break, he'll have opportunity.

Ouch, but I can't completely disagree. Wags was HOT in the beginning of the season and has surely tapered off. I can blame Uggla's un-clutchness last night as well, but that won't fix anything.
Like you said heb, Wagner will have his chance, hopefully he can pull through better than he did last night...or was it this morning. Re: All-Star Lame

i like that it determines home-field advantage. i don't like that the bigwigs engineer it such that anyone out of college can't watch the whole game. here's a good article on that http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/25698221/

**METS FUN FACT** In 1966, the Mets chose not to select Reggie Jackson with the first overall pick. Instead, they took Steve Chilcott, a catcher who would never make it to the Major Leagues. Most Viewed Posts
