Last night, the Mets had a viewing party at the Ziegfeld Theater in Manahattan. It was a surreal yet surprisingly fun scene which felt like a mix of an old-time movie house with kids yelling at the screen, and having 1,000 die hard Mets fans sit on my couch with me to watch a game.

There were merch vendors, hot dogs, popcorn, and beer, which I guess any game-movie hybrid should have. The Pepsi Party Patrol launched T-Shirts into the crowd and there were give-aways to boot. Buddy Harrelson, Chris Cotter and Lee Mazilli also addressed the crowd, and Mets PA Announcer, Alex Anthony, was the MC.

The game itself wound up leaving everyone discouraged and upset, but it was definitely an interesting experience that I won't soon forget. I'd be very surprised if the Mets don't ever have a similar event again as everyone seemed to have had a great time until Marlon Anderson took out Tadahito Iguchi. It was good to see that Carlos Delgado got the loudest cheers when coming to the plate...who says the fan base is negative lately.

Here's a quick slideshow, mostly of Mr. Met since taking pics inside a dark theater wasn't easy.
