View Article  Buehrle Packing Up Locker
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle started packing up his locker today.

Dave van Dyck writes:

"Buehrle sat down and started filling the box with all the junk a player keeps in his locker, from mementos to CDs to family pictures.  So wasBuehrle packing up to clean out his locker for the All-Star break or because he expected to be traded?

"Kind of both," he replied.  " I just had some extra stuff I needed to get out of here, and you never know what's going to happen.  It's a good time to get some stuff out of here and have a little less stuff in here just in case something happens."

The Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers and Braves are thought to be interested in renting Buehrle's services for the remainder of the 2007 season after which he becomes a free agent.

View Article  Home Run Derby Almost Set
According to MLB.com, six of the eight contestants for the Home Run Derby have been selected.

Vladamir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Justin Morneau and Miguel Cabrera are the participants thus far.

Carlos Beltran and David Wright have said that they would decline participation if asked.

The HR Derby will take place on Monday night.

The derby is pretty much the only part of the All-Star festivities that I watch.  Since the game has "counted", it has taken the fun out of it.  It should just be a showcase of talent with the result being meaningless.  Selig's attempt to attract more viewers is a futile attempt and the game should once again just be for fun.

Update...

Alex Rios, and Albert Pujols will also participate in the derby.  Miguel Cabrera had to back out due to an injury and his replacement is yet to be named.

I know everyone's seen this video a million times but I'm just posting it because baseball has been stressing me out so much lately that I just needed a good laugh, is that so wrong?

         **METS FUN FACT**

In 1966, the Mets chose not to select Reggie Jackson with the first overall pick. Instead, they took Steve Chilcott, a catcher who would never make it to the Major Leagues.
