View Article  Union Wants Warrant Sealed in Steroids Case
Multiple reports cite that the MLB Player's Union wants to keep secret the names of athletes identified as illegally acquiring the performance-enhancing drugs in what is also  known as the "Kirk Radomski case."

Brendan Lyons at the Albany Times Union writes:

"Lawyers for the Baseball Players Association contend that search warrant documents which contain the identities of any current or former players who received steroids from an admitted Long Island drug dealer should remain sealed because those players have not been charged with a crime."

Union lawyers as quoted by Lyons:

"Any disclosure of players' names would irreversibly link them with criminal conduct, even if that link were contrary to other known facts."

The Union gained approval to intervene in the case just yesterday.

Obviously they don't want to incriminate any of themselves, I'm just surprised it took this long for them to admit their fear of the names coming out.

Most of the Mets were Amazin' last night during the All-Star game in San Francisco.

Jose Reyes went 3 for 4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Carlos Beltran went 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. David Wright also had a hit last night in 3 at bats.

The only star that didn't shine, and honestly I almost didn't want him to pitch last night, was Billy Wagner.  I say that because I don't like to see pitchers tire their arms out during a mostly meaningless game.  Billy pitched one inning and gave up a two run homer to Victor Martinez which proved to be the difference as the American League won its 10th straight All-Star game 5-4. Wow, ten straight...how does that even happen?

I usually am not too into the All-Star game, but this year's actually wasn't too bad, highlighted by an inside the park home run by the game's MVP, Ichiro Suzuki. Unfortunately the Mets, if they reach the World Series, won't have home field advantage, but what can you do.

In other All-Star game news, Albert Pujols is reportedly angry at Tony LaRussa because he didn't play last night.

Pujols was quoted by ESPN as saying the following:

"It's the All-Star Game. He can do what he wants. He does whatever he wants. If I wasn't expecting to play, I wouldn't have come up here."

La Russa said he indeed was saving his star player in case the game went long.

When Orlando Hudson came to the plate with a chance to tie the game, I was wondering why the hell Pujols wasn't pinch hitting. Strange move Tony.

         **METS FUN FACT**

In 1966, the Mets chose not to select Reggie Jackson with the first overall pick. Instead, they took Steve Chilcott, a catcher who would never make it to the Major Leagues.
