In the 5th inning of last night's loss, Giants catcher Bengie Molina hit a ball off the top of the wall in left field which was incorrectly ruled by the officiating crew to be a home run. Two men scored. After that, 7 more runs scored in the inning thanks in part to errors by Damion Easley and Shawn Green.

Also last night, Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle was ejected in the ninth inning after umpires ruled that Troy Tulowitzki's drive off the top of the wall in left center was a double and not a home run.

I'm not saying the Mets would have won last night if the call was overruled by instant reply, but you wonder how often this happens where the losing team would win and vice versa.  In Hurdle's case he could have atleast bit his tongue and just called for a replay.

One of the things I like about baseball is the subjectivity of it and how unlike football, replays slow down the game and take away from the human element which is the way it has been done from the beginning.  However, replays on questionable home run plays only, might just have a place in the major leagues, especially in the postseason.
