In an article for the Associated Press, Alan Robinson tells how Larry "Chipper" Jones feels about the Braves' tough interleague schedule.

Jones, as quoted by Robinson:

"I don't think there's any question it's not fair, but I don't think major league baseball is concerned with fair. If you play the top teams in the American League and everybody else doesn't, it's pretty unfair."

The Braves play the Red Sox 6 times, and theTigers, Twins and Indians 3 times each. The Mets oppose the Yankees 6 times, and the Tigers, Twins and A's 3 times each. The other NL East teams look to have less-demanding schedules. The Phillies, for example, play three games each against the losing-record Blue Jays and Royals, plus three each against the White Sox, Indians and Tigers.

I can't say I disagree with Chipper here.  Although a player should just go out and play ball regardless of who they are playing, I have said before that the Mets' interleague schedule does seem tougher than other NL Easters. This is most likely due to TV ratings being higher when they play better teams. I like the Yankees series because it is fun, but the other teams definitely don't make it an easy interleague schedule which does concern me since the tough divisional race may be decided by one game.
