Opening Day this year was a blast.  We got there at 10 am thinking there would be plenty of spots left for us to tailgate with and there were barely any left!  The Citi Field construction combined with it being Opening Day had a lot to do with it obviously.

Matthew Cerrone of Metsblog.com stopped by the BBQ sporting the new MetsBlog t-shirt.

Also, noone told me to bring sunscreen! True, it was around 50 degrees but when you're in the upper deck you are much closer to the sun and now I have a wicked sunburn. Regardless, watching the Mets romp in the 8th, and seeing Jimmy Rollins' error were well worth the price of admission.

My one problem with the game was that I couldn't figure out why Willie left Ambiorix Burgos in to face Ryan Howard.  However, given the fact that Aaron Heilman was overworked the night before, it kind of makes sense if that is Willie's justification.

It felt kind of surreal being back in Shea after a long winter and it took me until about the 6th inning to feel like this game really counted for some reason.  But now I feel right back in the groove, like an old buddy just moved back to town and we didn't miss a beat.  In closing, those Meet The Matts guys need to give it a rest and Cow-Bell Man (Eddie Boison) is back and better than ever!
