Lastings Milledge is taking full advantage of spring training to prove he not only deserves to make the Mets this year, but he should have significant playing time.  In 14 games and 32 ABs, he is hitting .375/.474/.563.  Only Jose Reyes is having a better spring offensively for the Mets.  You can check out the stats for yourself at the Mets homepage.

So is there room for Milledge on the Mets in 2007?  I think the Mets will have 5 outfielders: Beltran, Green, Alou, Chavez and Milledge.  Beltran, Green, and Alou might start the season as regulars, but Milledge will definitely have a shot at playing everyday if there is an injury, or if Green and Alou can't break out of their Spring slumps.

I think Milledge will be starting in right field by the all-star break and hitting at the end of the order.  And in 2008 he will take his rightful spot in the order acting as a 1-2 punch with Jose Reyes.
