View Article  Magglio Beaning Causes Near Brawl
According to the Associated Press, Magglio Ordonez was hit in the side of the head by a breaking ball from Josh Beckett on Saturday, sending the Detroit slugger to the hospital and leading to a near scuffle between the Tigers and Red Sox.

According to the AP, Tigers coach Jim Leyland said:

"He was groggy, but that was to be expected, Josh throws a hard breaking ball. I'm sure he won't play tomorrow. I'm sure he'll have a headache."

Head over to Mets Merized Online and read Q&A with Ed Tsunoda of NYFS regarding the Mets' prospects.

Regarding the Mets' "curse" at signing 2nd basemen:

"Don’t give up on Hector Pellot. He had a rough year offensively in Hagerstown last year, but he was drafted out of high school and played full season ball, so the Mets have to have seen something in him."

"They didn’t bump him to Brooklyn or Kingsport when he struggled, and his isoD (OBP-AVG) was good, so I think his numbers may be more reflective of his playing against really advanced competition for his age/development, than indicative of his true ability."

"Also, I’m a big Chase Lambin fan. He’s going to rebound at AAA this year and give all the Jeff Keppinger fans someone else to obsess over."

         **METS FUN FACT**

In 1966, the Mets chose not to select Reggie Jackson with the first overall pick. Instead, they took Steve Chilcott, a catcher who would never make it to the Major Leagues.
