View Article  A-Hern Helps D.R. Win Fifth Straight Carib Series
Jesse Sanchez, in an article for MLB.com, summarizes the Domincan Republic's fifth straight Caribbean World Series victory.

Second baseman Anderson Hernandez walked to lead off the game and motored to second base on a single by Polonia. Hernandez scored on a double by Tejada for a 1-0 lead.

The Dominican Republic has now won 16 titles, the most by any one country in Caribbean Series history. They have won seven out of the last 11 Caribbean Series.

I tried to watch some of the games, but found the unfiltered fan noise which included chanting and horn playing to be a bit distracting after 20 minutes in a row.

It was good to see baseball being played somewhere atleast.

PS I dislike the contraction A-Hern, sorry about that

View Article  Who Should the Mets Fear?
At his blog for the Journal News, John Delcos asks:

Who in the National League should the Mets be concerned about? What’s the team that could derail them?

I don't think the Mets will actually fear any team, but they should be concerned about an improved NL East, that's for sure. Hopefully they just focus on what they have to do and get 'er done!

View Article  What Pedro's Up To
Check out my post on MetsBlog.com regarding the offseason regimen of Pedro Martinez as told by the NY Daily News.

His dedication is admirable but it doesn't look like he'll be back anytime soon.

Christian Red quotes Pedro regarding how long he hopes to pitch for:

"No more than 40 (years old)," he says with a laugh. "No, no. I always said it's in my heart and in my mind. I'm not going to go over 40, pitching. Maybe before 40. I'll be 37 (Oct. 25, 2008). I could probably pitch one or two more years. Probably, but not much (chance). That's it. No more. I need to shut it down."

As long as you can sling it, we hope you're a Met!

         **METS FUN FACT**

In 1966, the Mets chose not to select Reggie Jackson with the first overall pick. Instead, they took Steve Chilcott, a catcher who would never make it to the Major Leagues.
