Pitchers and catchers are reporting to spring training, and we can finally start discussing
"what happened" rather than "what will happen." Predictions are often disproved and are usually worthless. However, it is fun to guess, so which team or teams do you think will be a surprise for better or worse in 2007? Last year the Detroit Tigers made it all the way to the World Series, and the Atlanta Braves finished 1 game out of 4th in the NL East. Neither of those outcomes are what I would have predicted. I also picked the Toronto Blue Jays to give the Yanks more of a run for their money last year but they finished 10 games back. I'm not going to guess any other team in the NL East because I predict the Mets to win that division and don't want to fathom any other possibility. I am going to go with the Cleveland Indians who finished 18 games out of first last year. In a tough AL Central, which produced last years surprise team the Tigers, if the Indians can stay healthy and focused they could make it interesting between them and the Twins come September. Don't mark my words. Update With Keith Foulke retiring, my guess is a little more shaky. |
